From 15 months to 5 years
Our Kindergarten/Early Years programme is based on active learning, integrating emotional, social and cognitive perspectives, and is grounded in the Olinca values that promote safety, respect for oneself and others, environmental awareness and well-being. We do this without neglecting the requirements of the SEP curriculum, whilst laying the foundations for holistic development that enables pupils to maximise their individual potential.
As pioneers of the International Baccalaureate in Mexico, we are strengthening our teaching model and educational curriculum through Cambridge Early Years accreditation, making us the first Cambridge Early Years centre in Mexico.
Our educational programme promotes bilingual teaching, with a focus on developing key skills through a holistic curriculum.

Los estudiantes de Kínder Olinca son reflexivos, indagadores, comunicadores y tienen consolidadas las habilidades claves para el autocuidado, el respeto por uno mismo. Además, entendimiento de sus procesos cognitivos y capacidad para expresarse oralmente y por escrito en español e inglés sobre temas cotidianos, académicos y de su interés. Pueden generar proyectos para apoyar a otros o hacer conciencia sobre temas ambientales y de interés social. Conocen el uso de herramientas tecnológicas adecuadas al contexto educativo y un acercamiento a las bases de la programación y la robótica aplicada.

WHAT DOES REGGIO EMILIA MEAN?
In the years following World War II, a group of parents in the Italian city of Reggio Emilia came together to discuss how to create a better and more sustainable future for their children, who would be the inhabitants of this rapidly developing “new world.” As part of this initiative, high-quality early childhood schools were established.
To support this vision, they built a preschool, led by the local teacher and educator Loris Malaguzzi, who later became the founder of this educational philosophy. The school’s ethos revolves around three key ideas:
- Learning by doing
- The benefits of group discussions
- A deeper understanding of ideas and concepts through the review of experiences.
The Reggio Emilia Approach inspires us with the conviction that schools should aspire to be places where children, parents, and teachers participate in shaping a democratic, just, safe, and prosperous society. We are inspired by the connections we perceive between the role of the school and the image of the child as a strong, capable being full of potential. We are inspired to build relationships and listen to children to understand their learning processes and support them in those processes.
For the Reggio Emilia philosophy, spaces are meeting places that embrace the diversity of materials, resources, ideas, and questions.
HOW DO WE BRING IT TO LIFE?
Encouraging individuality
At Olinca, students are at the heart of the curriculum. We encourage them to choose and explore topics and activities for themselves, fostering their independence and stimulating their curiosity. Rather than simply being the recipients of instruction, they play an active role as learners and researchers, working in collaboration with the teaching staff.
Making the most of each student’s strengths
The Reggio Emilia approach refers to pupils’ ‘one hundred languages’ as a way of exploring their individuality. We are mindful of each child’s needs and their way of communicating.
LIFE AT OLINCA
Andrea López Bancalari Recamier, Deputy Head of the Nursery | San Ángel
Andrea López Bancalari holds a degree in Education and Communication, with certification in the Reggio Emilia approach and training through BI workshops. She has a postgraduate diploma in Teaching Strategies for Effective Learning. A former Olinca pupil and parent, she combines her pedagogical knowledge and personal experience to support pupils and families during the early years of education.
Norma Mugica Amaya Dirección Kínder | Pedregal
Norma holds a Bachelor’s degree in Early Years Education, as well as a Diploma in Cognitive Neuroscience and Emotional Intelligence from the Inter-American Open University in Buenos Aires. She has undertaken training in thanatology, critical incident management, Be-Learning and mindfulness for children. Her teaching approach combines academic education with the social and emotional development of her pupils.
Karla Gabriela Rodríguez Fuentes, Deputy Head of the Nursery | Pedregal
Gabriela Rodríguez Fuentes holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Educational Intervention. With 15 years’ experience in education, she has taken part in training courses on managing online classes, blended learning, assertive leadership and Cambridge.
She really enjoys spending time with her family. As an Olinca mum, she brings a personal and committed perspective to the school community.
