INTRODUCING OLINMUN: OUR MODEL
UNITED NATIONS

Model United Nations is an internationally recognized academic experience that encourages students to explore international relations, diplomacy, and the work of the United Nations in depth.

Mission

OLINMUN seeks to broaden students’ perspectives, inviting them to view the world with critical thinking and a strong sense of responsibility.

Through debate and diplomatic simulation, students analyze real-world global issues, develop proposals, and learn to engage in respectful dialogue as they seek solutions to the challenges that affect us as an international community.

This model allows our students to

  • Develop a global, critical view of current challenges.

  • Understand and value different cultural, political, and social perspectives.

  • Strengthen their communication skills by expressing, debating, and negotiating ideas with respect, sound arguments, and openness to dialogue.

What is OLINMUN?
For the past 20 years, Olinca has organized its Model United Nations conference, called OLINMUN, in which schools from across Mexico and other countries take part to debate current issues in English, following official UN protocol.
img
Who runs OLINMUN?
Olinca High School students, together with their teachers and school leaders, define the committees and topics to be debated. They also make up the Secretariat and invite Olinca Secondary School students and students from other schools to take part in the debates.

Why OLINMUN?
Today, we are convinced that Model United Nations is one of the best tools for training young people to solve complex problems through critical dialogue, in-depth analysis, and well-reasoned, respectful debate.

Critical Thinking
High School students, together with their teachers and school leaders, organize a Model UN conference for Olinca Secondary School students and guest schools. They define the committees and topics to be debated according to each country's official position, following the formal United Nations debate protocol.

How do we do it?

At Olinca, High School students themselves lead OLINMUN: they define the committees, choose the topics, and take on the role of the Secretariat, turning the event into a genuine leadership and organizational experience.
Participants debate in English following official UN protocol, representing the positions of different countries before Olinca Secondary School students and guest schools from across Mexico.
With more than 20 years of experience, OLINMUN is where our students develop critical thinking, communication skills, and a genuinely global outlook.
